Your Newborn Photo Session with Siblings.
It’s always a challenge to get out of the house with a newborn and a sibling and if it is for a newborn photography session it is likely it is one of the first times you have packed the nappy bag and got out of the house with all the fam which can be overwhelming … but the results in the memories and the legacy you create for your family makes it so worth it.
Preparing for the session
I will always chat with you beforehand to discuss preparation for the shoot and to answer any questions you may have. Read more about preparing and what to expect with your Susan Bradfield Photography photo shoot here.
It’s always advisable to have a well rested, well fed sibling to maximise cooperation and also so there is no need to stop and snack during the session. If you child is a toddler, the shoot time will be quick due to their limited concentration span and I am experienced with little ones to be able to coax the best out of them, even if they are reluctant as can be the case at this major point of change in their life. Bribery is great but rewards should be left for after the session (esp chocolate!). Read more about preparing for photoshoots with toddlers here.
What to wear
Keep it simple and the tones consistent within the family unit. Avoid loud logos on t-shirt for kids that can date quickly and be distracting in the image. Keep it simple. Bare feet are great especially with little kids so don’t stress about footwear.
A typical gallery will contain family, sibling and baby, mummy and baby; mummy, baby and sibling; daddy and baby; daddy, baby and sibling; mummy and daddy with baby; individual sibling shots and of course, individual newborn shots. Here is Ava’s recent photo shoot. It was such a fun and happy session and a beautiful memory for all the family :)
Amanda has said of the session “Thankyou so much. We have enjoyed working with you, each session has been so special and an experience and service we’ll always cherish.”
