NEWBORN AND BABY PHOTOGRAPHY

(Please scroll down for more of my portfolio)

As one of Melbourne’s leading newborn baby, maternity and family photographers, I capture soft, beautiful and natural images of your newborn baby and family in my photography studio in Brighton, Bayside Melbourne. I want to offer you an amazing and memorable experience while I capture forever, the heart- stopping tiny squishiness of your amazing little creation

Here are some questions you may have:

When to book: Ideally, your newborn photography session should be booked in and scheduled beforehand according to your due date. It is best to book in the second trimester (as I do usually book up in advance - but last minute calls are welcome). If your baby arrives early or late, I can usually adjust the date according the arrival date.

When is the best time for newborn photos? Most newborn photographers will tell you it is anywhere from 4 to 14 days. This is when your baby is meant to be the most curly and sleepy and of course, tiny… which is ideal for newborn photos. However, I have experience in sessions with older babies, and if you have missed this early milestone, amazing baby images are still possible - call me so we can chat about this.

What to bring: On the day, you just need to show up with your baby with a nappy change and baby outfit change. My studio is full of beautiful props and drops so I can use different natural textures, fabrics and colours to compliment your baby (although, I do like to keep it simple with ‘props’ and make it all about your baby). You will want to wear something suitable for your family photos which are included in the session.

What happens in the shoot: My emphasis and baby photography style is always on your baby, and not on props. My studio is peaceful, quiet and warm, and my baby photography sessions are always baby-lead which means I take my time with your baby to allow settling and feeding if required so that they are happy, calm and relaxed. I encourage parent and sibling photos and this does not incur any additional charge.

How long are your sessions: Sessions usually take around 2-3 hours. This seems like a lot, but it allows me to work with your baby needs and keeps the sessions relaxed.

Are you experienced with newborns: Newborn photography is a specialised area of photography and I take your baby’s safety very seriously. I am a former physiotherapist, and I have spent many hours of professional photography development to ensure the safe handling and posing of your precious baby.  My vaccinations are up to date, I have infant first aid training, I am fully insured. I have a current Working with Children check.

How do I book in and how does it all work? Call or email me! Upon booking, you are required to pay a non-refundable retainer of $150. A few weeks after the photo session you will be invited to my studio to view the images I have edited. You choose your package from this gallery . Packages start at $525 for 6 finely crafted and edited digital images and a voucher you can use towards printed products. Email me for my package pricing and further info.

Susan, Every time I look at the photos they take my breath away, especially the slide show of Lily! I’ve showed that many people, I think Rob thinks I’ve gone a bit loopy. They are just beautiful
