From delicate wraps to beautiful yet minimal props, every detail is thoughtfully styled to reflect your family’s unique story.

What to Expect and What’s Included

Newborn Photography Sessions are held in my Brighton Photography Studio. The sessions are baby‑led and unhurried, with time for feeding and settling whenever needed. I use soft, simple styling and guide you through relaxed family and sibling photos. The aim is a calm experience and natural, timeless images.

Soft, natural styling is provided, including simple wraps and blankets, and every chosen image is carefully edited in my warm, timeless style.

I usually include family and siblings in some photos and we can discuss this in you pre-session phone consult.

When is the Best Time to Do a Newborn Photoshoot?

Newborn sessions are ideally held in the first 7 – 14 days after birth when they’re extra sleepy and curly! However if you have past this date, please reach out as I older baby photo sessions are also possible.

It’s best to book during pregnancy, ideally your second trimester, to secure your spot. I’ll pencil in your due date and adjust as needed once your little one arrives. However if you are after a last minute booking, still reach out and I will try my best to accomodate.

I also have options for older baby photography, pregnancy maternity photoshoots, and family photography.

Where do sessions take place?

My newborn photography sessions are always held indoors in my professional Brighton studio as young babies can struggle to regulate their body temperature. My Bayside studio is in Brighton, Melbourne which is perfectly set up with perfect lighting, props and drops. I service all of Bayside Melbourne including Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Black Rock, Beaumaris and further afield throughout Melbourne and people also travel from country Victoria for my sessions.

Newborn Safety

Your baby’s safety and comfort are always my number one consideration. As a former physiotherapist, with training in newborn handling and safety and with over a decade of experience working with newborns, I use gentle, baby‑led posing and support every movement with care. I’m fully vaccinated, hold a current Working With Children Check, and maintain up‑to‑date infant first aid training. Sessions are slow, calm and never rushed, creating a safe, warm environment where your little one is always handled with confidence and respect.

Pricing

Upon booking your Melbourne newborn photoshoot, a $150 non-refundable retainer is required to secure your session.

Packages of your images are in addition to this and start at $525, including 6 professionally edited, high-resolution digital images in both colour and black and white.

Every package includes credit for printed products or wall art so you can display your art.

Clients often combine maternity photoshoots and newborn photo session packages - please ask me for more info.

Your Newborn Photography Questions, Answered

When should I book my newborn photography session?

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is up to 2 weeks of age. This is because they tend to be very sleepy and curly at this age, and usually settling is a smoother process.

You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to book a tentative time for your session, although it is advisable to secure your session in the second trimester. Closer to the delivery we can firm up the session date. If you are a last-minute person, I do take a limited number of last minute bookings, so you can always ask. :)

Do you provide props, outfits, or wraps, or should I bring my own?

My newborn photography studio is filled with gorgeous backdrops, cosy wraps, and beautiful natural light – so you don’t need to bring anything! However, if you have a special blanket or heirloom item that holds sentimental value, I’d love to incorporate it into your session. You are also welcome to use my studio wardrobe for your outfit.

May I include family or siblings in the newborn photography session?

Yes! I encourage it. Including your family or siblings is all part of the experience and is included in the overall cost of the session – no extra charges. We can chat about this upon booking. If you want to bring your family dog or grandparents, we do need to discuss this beforehand in the planning chat.

How long does a newborn session take?

My sessions are relaxed and calm, and baby-led, so please allow around 2-3 hours. I don’t shoot to time, and I follow your baby’s cues – so if they need feeding or settling we have plenty of time for this.

Where do your newborn photography sessions take place?

For optimal results, my newborn sessions are always held indoors as young babies can struggle to regulate their body temperature. My Bayside studio is in Brighton, Melbourne. As I am so well set up in my studio with perfect lighting, props and drops, I do not offer sessions in your home. I service all of Bayside Melbourne and further afield and people also travel from country Victoria for my sessions.

I don’t like posing and I never look good in photos Can you help me?

You’re not alone — almost everyone tells me this. The good news is you don’t have to do anything except show up. I’ll guide you into relaxed, flattering positions and keep things moving so you never feel stuck or “on display”. Most people are surprised by how easy and even enjoyable it feels once we get started.
