Book Cover and Branding Photos for author Andrea Barton
I recently had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with a talented mystery author on both her book cover photography and a set of personal branding portraitsβand it was every bit as moody, intriguing, and creative as youβd expect.
π A Cover That Captures Suspense
For the book cover, the goal was to create an image that immediately pulled readers into the world of the storyβfull of twists, secrets, and subtle tension. We worked together to design a visual that hints at mystery without giving too much away. Think shadowy lighting, intentional composition, and just the right amount of atmosphere.
The result? A cover that feels cinematic and hauntingβperfectly aligned with her genre and voice.
βοΈ Author Branding With a Storytelling Edge
In addition to the cover, we created a series of branding photos that reflect who she is as a writer. We focused on portraits that showcase her personality and professionalism.
Whether sheβs posting on social media, speaking at book signings, or updating her website, she now has a cohesive set of images that reflect her identity as an author of gripping, page-turning fiction.
π· Why This Kind of Work Matters
Photography for authors is about more than just looking goodβitβs about creating visual storytelling that supports the written word. Whether itβs for a book cover or a branding shoot, the images should speak the same language as the story youβre trying to tell.
I'm honoured to help bring Andreaβs vision to lifeβand I am excited to her book on shelves.

βSusan has the gift of putting even the most reluctant of subjects at ease. With a great eye for composition and a unique perspective, she has a great talent. She did my head shots, which are the only photos of myself Iβve ever been happy with. I highly recommend her.β
