Hair, Make Up, and Maternity Wardrobe

Before your session, I work closely with you to plan your wardrobe and styling, so you can feel relaxed and excited for the shoot. You will have full access to my studio wardrobe, filled with stunning fabrics and maternity gowns, and this is all included in your maternity photography session fee. This ensures we achieve photographs with which you will fall in love!

If you’re looking for something different, I’ve partnered with Mama Rentals, and Everything Lace Hire who offer my clients a 15% discount on premium maternity gown rentals for your shoot. As an optional extra, I also work with fabulous hair and makeup artists who can help you feel your most beautiful for your session. You can ask me for these referrals at booking time.

Where YourMaternity Session Takes Place

Maternity sessions take place in my Brighton studio or at one of my favourite beach or garden outdoor locations across Bayside.

My Bayside Brighton studio is calm, private and designed for a relaxed experience, with access to my full wardrobe and soft, flattering light.

If you prefer an outdoor setting, when you book we will find the best location for you in our pre-session chat. Maternity outdoor sessions take place at the beach or gardens and parks across Bayside Melbourne, including Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Elwood and the wider Bayside area. My Maternity beach photoshoots are especially popular and many clients travel to me from across Melbourne and country Victoria for these.

I also offer destination maternity photoshoots.

Your Maternity Photography Questions Answered

When is the best time to book my maternity session?

Most families book between 12–30 weeks to secure a spot. Sessions usually take place around 28–34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully rounded and you’re still comfortable moving and posing.

Where do maternity sessions take place?

Sessions are held in my Brighton studio or at an outdoor location around Bayside or greater Melbourne. A lot of my clients love beach photoshoots in Melbourne. Both options are relaxed, natural and designed to feel comfortable and unhurried.

What should I wear for my maternity photos?

Simple, timeless clothing photographs beautifully — soft fabrics, neutral tones and pieces that highlight your bump. You’re welcome to bring a few options, and I’ll guide you through what works best on the day. I have an extensive maternity client wardrobe that you can choose from for the shoot - this is at no additional cost.

Can my partner or children be included?

Absolutely. Maternity sessions are about connection and anticipation, and partners and children are always welcome.

I feel awkward in front of the camera — will you guide me?

Yes — gently and naturally. You don’t need to know how to pose. I’ll guide you with small, simple directions so everything feels relaxed and authentic.

Do you offer hair and makeup?

While I don’t provide in‑studio hair and makeup, many families choose to have it done beforehand. I can recommend trusted local artists if you’d like.

What if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?

If it’s raining or crazy windy, we can reschedule, or move the session into the studio.

When will I receive my images?

You’ll receive a curated proof gallery to view and choose your favs in my studio with me within 1–2 weeks, and final edited images shortly after you’ve made your selections.

Do you offer maternity + newborn packages?

Yes — many families choose to book both together. It guarantees availability around your due date and creates a beautifully connected story across both sessions. Click here to view my newborn info. I also offer family photo sessions.

Pricing

Upon booking, a $150 non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your session.

Packages of your images are in addition to this and start at $525, including 6 professionally edited, high-resolution digital images in both colour and black and white.

Every package includes credit for printed products or wall art so you can display your art.
